mutate.new

§(T
type
, mutable_value mutate.new.T)
:
mutable_element,auto_unwrap mutate.new.T, mutate
 is

create a new mutable value with the given initial value and update the
'mutate' effect in the current environment

Functions

returns `as_string` of the current value

redefines:

§
:
Any
 =>
unit
[Inherited from  mutable_element]
stop any further mutations of this element
creates a copy of the mutable field
§
:
Any
 =>
Type
[Inherited from  Any]
Get the dynamic type of this instance. For value instances `x`, this is
equal to `type_of x`, but for `x` with a `ref` type `x.dynamic_type` gives
the actual runtime type, while `type_of x` results in the static
compile-time type.

There is no dynamic type of a type instance since this would result in an
endless hierachy of types. So for Type values, dynamic_type is redefined
to just return Type.type.
§
:
Any
 =>
mutate.new.T
read the current value of this mutable value.

If this is open, check that the mutate effect this was created with is still
installed in the current environment.
§(to mutate.new.T)
:
Any
 =>
unit
infix operator for put, OCaml/F#-style syntax
§
:
Any
 =>
String
[Inherited from  Type]
name of this type, including type parameters, e.g. 'option (list i32)'.
§
:
Any
 =>
bool
[Inherited from  mutable_element]
is this element open, i.e., can it be mutated?
§
:
Any
 =>
String
[Inherited from  Any]
convenience prefix operator to create a string from a value.

This permits usage of `$` as a prefix operator in a similar way both
inside and outside of constant strings: $x and "$x" will produce the
same string.
§(to mutate.new.T)
:
Any
 =>
unit
update mutable field with new value

Check that the mutate effect this was created with is still
installed in the current environment.
§
:
Any
 =>
mutate.new.T
unwrap this mutable value

redefines:

update mutable field using a function of the old value
§
:
Any
 =>
mutate.new.T
read the mutable value that is now immutable after it was closed for mutation.

Type Features

§
:
Any
 is

[Inherited from  Any]
Get a type as a value.

This is a feature with the effect equivalent to Fuzion's `expr.type` call tail.
It is recommended to use `expr.type` and not `expr.type_value`.

`type_value` is here to show how this can be implemented and to illustrate the
difference to `dynamic_type`.
